Fantastico is an autoinstaller for Web servers running cPanel. One of the great things about open source software for the web is that it is usually low-cost or free. One of the bads things is there may not be somebody to call to help you install software, and a lot of it requires some configuration. If you are familiar with setting up MySQL databases and working with PHP, then no problem. If you’re not, then it can be a daunting task.
Fantastico makes it simple to install a variety of open source applications. It installs, configures and sets up the database (where needed) for you.
The majority of hosting clients don’t require cPanel access, as I manage things for them. So in those cases, Fantiastico helps me help you. But for those who do want to tinker under the hood a little, Fantastico have proven itself to be quite a timesaver.
